Google Analytics is definitely an effective tool in tracking and reporting website traffic. This web analytics service is used widely by almost website since launched in 2005. And Magento is smart enough to integrate it into the system so that user can take full advantages of it.
But Do you know how to take advantages of Google Analytics?
In this tutorial, I am showing you how to enable Google Analytics to Magento 1 and Magento 2 website.
To enable Google Analytics to Magento website, you have to do 2 main steps:
- Create Google Analytics Account
- Configure Google Analytics in Magento
Let’s start with the first step:
I. Create Google Analytics Account
Go to Google Analytics page: https://www.google.com/analytics/
Sign up and get the Account Number at get Tracking ID button, you will need it for Magento configuration.
Then turning into the next step:
II. Configure Google Analytics in Magento
In this stage, we have to separate into 2 parts: magento 1 and magento 2.
1. Magento 1
Admin Panel > System > Configuration > Sales > Google API
Choose Yes to Enable, select Google Analytics at type box and then enter the Account Number.
Click on Save Config to end process.
2. Magento 2
Admin Panel > Store > Configuration > Sales > Google API
Enable the service and add the Account Number you just got in the box.
Click on Save Config to end process.
After saving the data, clear website cache and you can track the activity on your website.
